Farmers Market Team Member

Position Type: Seasonal, Part-Time (April –November 2026 Farmers Market Season)
Schedule: 1–3 days per week (weekdays and/or weekends available)
Location: Remote — based out of Cape May County, NJ. Must be willing to travel to regional farmers markets (Cape May, Atlantic, Camden, and Burlington Counties) using a company vehicle.
Compensation: $20–$25 per hour, based on responsibility and experience.

Scallop Shack Farms is a family-owned seafood company rooted in generations of commercial fishing. We specialize in wild-caught, American-caught seafood—with a focus on our signature scallops harvested by our own vessel, F/V Salted and trusted partners.
In addition to our retail market in the heart of Cape May County, we sell directly to customers at farmers markets throughout South Jersey, offering premium seafood with complete transparency from the boat to the table. Our farmers markets are a vital part of our business and reflect the heart of our brand.
We are looking for dependable, self-sufficient individuals who take pride in their work and can confidently operate a farmers market on their own.
Position Overview
This is a highly independent role. Farmers Market Team Members are responsible for operating a Scallop Shack Farms market location from start to finish, often working solo. You will drive to the market, set up the stand, assist customers, manage sales, and represent our brand with professionalism and pride.
This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, personable, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple responsibilities.
There is strong potential for year-round opportunities for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Drive company vehicle to and from farmers market locations
Independently set up, operate, and break down the Scallop Shack Farms market stand
Create an attractive, clean, and organized seafood display
Engage with customers, answer questions, and educate them about our products and fishing practices
Process transactions accurately using our point-of-sale system
Handle and organize prepackaged seafood products while monitoring freezer and cooler temperatures to ensure proper storage conditions and preserve product quality.
Load and unload coolers and equipment before and after each market
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professionalism at all times
Represent Scallop Shack Farms as a trusted, premium seafood brand
Requirements
Must be comfortable working independently and managing a market solo
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to lift 50lbs (coolers and equipment)
Reliable, punctual, and highly responsible
Friendly, confident, and professional with customers
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Availability for weekend markets is strongly preferred
Prior retail, farmers market, or food experience is a plus, but not required
